Trivia Munchers — Privacy Policy
An arcade game that happens to use trivia — route the muncher through the Gauntlet.
Summary
Trivia Munchers requires no account, login, or email to play. It uses no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs and sets no tracking cookies. It collects a small amount of data: the topic text you submit (to build and fact-check a board), a transient IP address for rate-limiting, optional leaderboard entries, optional board reports, and first-party product-funnel events keyed to an anonymous install ID.
AI is used to generate and verify trivia content. Our LLM API key is held server-side only and is never shipped in the client.
Data stored on your device
- Render and accessibility settings (volume, motion, colorblind assist, text size, haptics)
- Play stats and streaks
- The last leaderboard name you typed and your recent topics
Data we collect
Topic text
When you play a topic we receive the topic string you type and send it to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate and independently fact-check a board, then cache the verified board. We log topic text and aggregate usage for operating, debugging, abuse-prevention, and cost control. Please do not type personal information into the topic box.
IP address (transient)
Used only to enforce per-IP rate limits, held in a short-lived counter that auto-expires. We do not build durable profiles from it.
Leaderboard entry (optional)
If you post a score we store the display name you type plus that integer score. Names are sanitized, length-capped, and profanity-filtered, and are shown publicly. Pick a nickname — do not enter your real name.
Board report (optional)
If you report a board we store the reason plus board context (topic, rule, seed, board index, cell labels) in a non-public moderation queue. No reporter identifier or raw IP is stored with it.
Product-funnel events
Anonymous events (e.g. first open, first CHOMP, board completed) keyed to an anonymous install ID and per-session ID. No raw IP or user-agent is stored; retained about 30 days.
Advertising
No advertising, no ad SDKs, no advertising identifiers.
Third parties
We do not sell or rent your data. Limited service providers may process data only to run the game:

Children
Trivia Munchers is an educational, family-friendly trivia game with broad appeal and requires no account or personal information. The recommended posture is a mixed / general audience that is not child-directed by default; the final child-directed / age-rating declaration is pending owner declaration. If a child has provided personal information (e.g. a real name typed into a leaderboard), contact us and we will remove it.
Your choices & data deletion
On-device data is under your control (clear browser storage / uninstall). To remove a leaderboard entry, contact us with the name and approximate score.
Changes
We will update this policy as the game changes and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app and store listings where required.
